LUTC at the 2009 National Finals
report from a member of the LUTC team

"On the 22nd March 2009, Leicester University Trampoline Club (LUTC) took part in the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) National Trampoline Competition.

Having got through from the Regional Competition, Leicester University was ready to make their mark. This is the 2nd year that students from LUTC have reached the finals, the club having only been set up 2 years ago, helped by the sponsorship of Space ConneXions.

The competition took place in Bristol, so we made our way down from Leicester the night before in time for an hour of warming up and practising on the trampoline beds, followed by a well-earned meal at Pizza Express. The day of the event was long, with four competitors performing from 8.30am to midday and a fifth competing just after. All five competitors gave good performances, although the standards in each category were very high and just one mistake meant that the top places were out of reach. Unfortunately, this happened to 3 of our competitors whilst performing their 2nd routines.

However, Natasha Triveda, competing in the 'BUCS 4' round managed to pull off two very impressive routines, fully deserving to become Champion of her round. Congratulations Natasha for becoming a National Trampoline Champion!

Although we only received one award between us, the LUTC group left the competition feeling like they had made an impact on the finals and we are all keen to prove ourselves even more next year. Special thanks go to Space ConneXions Limited for their financial support to the club, without which we may never have achieved the successes that we have attained so far."

Space ConneXions note: Well done the Leicester team! We hope you go from strength to strength in the coming years.
